Road Accident Claim

I remember when I was a young man and I stupidly, of course, took my eye off the road ( one of the main reasons for a road accident claim), for a second, if that long, and found myself bumping into the rear of the car infront of me. We both stopped and got out of our cars where we proceeded to look at the damage. As there was such little damage to both the cars and the other driver did not want to bother with an insurance claim we both went on our way.

Little did I know the other driver filed a claim with his insurance company later and I was liable for damages that never happened and I ended up hiring a lawyer to defend me.I lost and ended up paying for all the damage the other driver claimed as I rear ended him and that seemed to be enough for the judge to reach his decission.

The Point To A Road Accident Claim

My point is I should have made a road accident claim immediately after the accident and if serious enough made sure the traffic authorities were called to the scene before any vehicles are moved. I would actually do this for even a small road accident. It pays to be up to date with the current requirements with regards to accident proceedures in your state or country before you venture out onto the roads.

Keeping a copy of your contacts like your lawyer etc in your glove box and the correct insurance proceedures to be followed in the case of a road accident is a great idea for anyone tohave in their vehicles. These would come in handy for anyone else that drives your vehicle without you also just incase they find themselves in the need of a road accident claim.
